STEM Center for Undergraduate Diversity

The STEM Center for Undergraduate Diversity is the hub of a vibrant network of faculty, advisors, talented students, and industry leaders.  Together we are building a future where Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) leaders reflect the diverse spectrum and talent of our society.

Our Programs

help students build foundations for academic excellence and provide stepping-stones to professional success.

Our work reaches across the education spectrum, from high school through graduate school, helping prepare and empower students to become outstanding STEM professionals.

Our Students

represent the best and brightest Berkeley STEM undergraduates. Many are from low-income families and the first generation to attend college. These outstanding young women and men bring with them solid academic performance, innate talent, strong leadership potential, and tenacity.

Their hard work and perseverance inspire and recharge us each day.

Our Center

With a broad mandate from the UC Berkeley Academic Senate in 1974 to prepare underprivileged students for the professions, the STEM Center, originally known as the Professional Development Program (PDP), created a wide array of innovative programs to support academic excellence and diversity.
